We have received hundreds of questions via calls and messages on our Facebook page. Understandable people are concerned, scared, and frustrated. It is a hard time for everyone. The news is coming in daily. Rules, guidelines and closures are changing daily. We want to update everyone on the status of Lake Wylie.
Public Boat Ramps
All SC public boat ramps are closed to recreational boating, but still open for law enforcement boats, and working boats. NC public ramps are still open to the public. The ramp in Belmont NC is also closed. It looks like as of right now, the only ramp open to the public is the Mecklenburg County public ramp at Copperhead Island.
To be clear, this does not effect private facilities including marinas. If your boat is stored at a Marina, most of them are still in operation putting boats in the water. If you boat is in a wet slip at a marina, you can still access your boat and go on the lake.
Lake Wylie is open! Do not confuse the closure of public boat ramps as a closure of the lake.
Most boat clubs and daily boat rental facilities are also still running and utilizing a virtual check-in processes.

Papa Doc’s is closed till further notice. We have not heard any anticipated open date.
JR Cash is finishing up renovations and plan to open in May.
NC is on a Stay at Home order. Realtors can not show homes. SC has not announced a stay at home order yet. As of right now many agents are showing homes virtually and listing homes with extra virtual technology.
Our concern is unemployment. With so many losing their jobs, that’s a lot of mortgages that might not get paid. This might effect the overall home values in the area if tons of homes start to hit the market.
For the waterfront homes, there is still great deals to be had. However, many mortgage lenders have hit the pause button on giving out jumbo loans (anything over $510K). This hurts the higher-end lake homes on the market.
